Kuramathi Village, Maldives
Introduction
A tropical island in a blue sea, with waving palms and cascades of beautiful exotic flowers. Kuramathi Island is a
beautiful resort where seekers of paradise escaping the pressures and cares of the world can get away and forget the
outside world. This lush green garden bursting with scented frangipanis, delicate hibiscus, bougainvillea and morning
glory offers you a glimpse of the Garden of Eden. A gardener's dream and the ideal holiday retreat.
Kuramathi village has retained its natural beauty and is the only island resort to offer a choice of three different places
to stay. It is larger than most island resorts - over one kilometre in length - and has three discreet locations each with
its own unique character and charm. They are all carefully laid out and spaced so that you might never know the others
existed. Wander the narrow winding paths of Kuramathi Village lined with thick foliage that snake their way across the island. A bus is also
available to shuttle you back and forth should you feel too tired to take a short hike. Gaze up into the ancient banyan
tree and spy the cranes nesting in the topmost branches. Drift along sandy white beaches and dip your toes in the water
to cool off on a balmy hot day, or turn to catch the cooling sea breezes. Only then might you chance upon one of the
other resorts: the Cottage Club, Blue Lagoon or Kuramathi Village.
Getting there
The boat or seaplane brings you to the main jetty where you step ashore and leave the rest of the
world behind you. Step into the Fungi Bar for a few minutes to rest, enjoy a cool drink and freshen up with a cold
towel. Relax. From here on in we'll take care of everything.
Extras
Kuramathi Village also offers one or two little extra surprises you may not have bargained for. A lost pelican flew in
one day and has made the resort his home. So happy is he in his new surroundings that he will happily pose for
snapshots. And if you're really lucky, while relaxing on the beach you may get to see a few dolphins leaping in the
water as they take a shortcut through the channel that separates Kuramathi from Rasdhoo on the other side of the
lagoon.

little gardens, Kuramathi Village is a home away from home. All the rooms have sea views and lie within a few metres
of the beach.

A total of 78 standard rooms are available. Furnished with elegant cane beds, side tables as well as a seating area
to relax in, these rooms at Kuramathi Village are all you need for a relaxing holiday stay. Cool, tropical prints on the bedspreads and

respite when the beach gets too hot at midday. The en suite bathroom is simple and functional, with walk in shower,
WC and wash basin.
Wooden Bungalows at Kuramathi Village
A series of 33 secluded and stylish wooden bungalows with thatched roofs provide spacious accommodation for your
holiday stay. Surrounded by thick shrubs, these Kuramathi Village rooms blend in with their surroundings. Polished wooden floors and
woven fibre walls add a natural back to nature feel, though nature here has style. The cane furniture is attractive
and comfortable, and the ceiling fan wafts the breeze on those days when you don't want the air conditioning on in the Kuramathi Village.
A spacious dressing area with ample wardrobe space and a dressing table leads into the en suite bathroom. Soft coloured
tiles give a fresh feel to the bathrooms, which come equipped with bath, shower, WC and hand basin. A veranda at the
front provides a place to sit and relax when you want to take things easy.
Round Bungalows at Kuramathi Village

of accommodation. Set in beautiful gardens and surrounded by frangipani trees, these rooms are a holiday dream. Sit
on your veranda in the midst of all this beauty and enjoy the surrounding beauty of the Kuramathi Village.
Inside the tile-floored room, a fan is set in the middle of the domed ceiling. A large window lets in lots of light,
adding a bright cheerful note to these surroundings. Painted cane furniture offers simple comfort and relaxation at
the end of the day in the Kuramathi Village. A dressing table and wardrobe, and seating area are all provided, as well as a big comfortable
bed, for you to sink into at the end of the day. The soft coloured tiles in the bathroom with walk in shower, WC and
sink unit complete the holiday setting.
